Of course he acted as a poet and his most famous poems are:

"The Fall of the House of
Usher" is a story which tells about an old mansion. Like
so many of Poe's stories, the setting here is inside a closed environment and
the narrator of the story is unknown. The main characters are Roderick
Usher and his twin sister Madeline.
They both are ill and are
going to die. Roderick suffers from hyper-sensitivity to light, sound, taste,
and tactile sensations and his sister suffers from a sickness involving
seizures. The story is told by a narrator who came to this house to stay for
some time with Roderick and Madeline. The narrator tries to entertain Roderick
with the help of music, literature and art. But his sister dies first. The
narrator helps to burry Madeline in the family vaults, which was underneath the
mansion.
So, as they both were twins there
was some connection between them. A week later while the two friends were
reading at night they heard the voice which repeated every word they read. It
was Madeline. Roderick was scared to death, because he thought that they
burried his sister alive and that she came to take him with her. Of course they both died. The narrator ran outside and saw how the house
cracked into two parts and then fell down.
